1/2/2016

Not a normal outfit post today, sorry!

Working at Ted Baker has begun to inspire my choices and open my imagination to more colour and print. I've never been one to go for prints, instead opting for the safer option of a monochromatic silhouette or a nude palette. However Ted doesn't do things by half and the prints we've been getting through in the new S/S16' collections are always extremely bright and eye-catching.

Ted Baker specialises in florals, however we do carry a few lines of a more abstract print. Abstracts were all over the catwalks at the S/S16 fashion weeks last year and I'm especially interesed in the couture/highstreet crossover and what they truly say about what we're going to expect to see in the stores over the next few months.

Dolce & Gabbana
Dolce and Gabbana put forward some of the pieces I love the most. Featuring cartoon-esque screen printing combining florals with an 'indian-summer' palette and vibe I feel these prints are most relevant to what we should expect to see emerging on the highstreet soon. With an almost kaleidoscopic feel to it, D&G combined warm, ethnic colours with strong images to create an original and quite abstract new trend. Watch this space.

Matthew Williamson
King of the bohemians, Matthew Williamson is bringing brights to the table this summer. His S/S16' catwalk saw a similar theme in the 'Indian Summer' colour palette combined with 3D floral prints. I'm excited to see this translated across the highstreet later in the season.

Emilio Pucci
Lastly, I noticed this statement piece from Emilio Pucci's couture collection. The bright 3D feathers layered over pleated pastel is something that really caught my eye. I love the slightly oriental/ethnic vibe in the layered tunic, keeping in check with the Indian Summer vibe that is coming across quite strongly. We've had a few pieces come in to Ted along this line, especially across our accessories range and I'm really intrigued to see who else comes out with similar pieces.

London Fashion Week soon!! My invitation must have got lost in the post...
